The musician narrated how he rushed his pregnant wife to a local hospital, but upon arriving, they were asked to pay KSh 42,000 before they could attend to her.
The grief-stricken man said his wife, Kemi, would be alive if the hospital had attended to her. According to Legit.ng, the hospital where Akinbobola took his wife denied demanding cash before attending to his wife.
In an interview with The Punch Newspapers, Akinbobola recalled his last conversation with his beloved wife before she died. The father of two revealed his wife assured him their baby was still alive while waiting to be attended to.
"She was still conscious at the hospital. She even signalled to me and said, 'The baby is still fine.' She was weak, but still communicating. If they had attended to her immediately, she could have been saved. I think the government should ensure that hospitals are properly equipped, and any hospital that isn’t should not be allowed to operate. There should also be a law that mandates all hospitals, private or public, to attend to emergencies," he narrated.
The heartbroken widower narrated how the night before, Kemi, told him she would have their third kid the following day, and they were happy about it.

"Up until the 20th of February 2025, she was perfectly fine. My wife was not sick; she had no underlying health conditions. She was strong, glowing, and full of life. We had bought the baby’s clothes and prepared everything for his arrival. She took her medications faithfully and exercised when needed. Sometimes, we did it together. She never missed her antenatal appointments. There were no warning signs," he narrated.
Akinbobola revealed that after his wife passed away at the hospital, he was asked to deposit KSh 42,000 for mortuary fees, the same amount he was allegedly asked to pay for her treatment.
He revealed the doctors had to remove the baby from the mother's womb and charged him for burial clothes as well.
