Mumbai Metro Line 3 Phase 2A Opens: Travel From BKC To Worli In 36 Min
Mumbai has taken a significant step to improve its public transport network. Starting 10 May 2025, Mumbai Metro Line 3 Phase 2a is operational, connecting Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) and Acharya Atre Chowk in Worli. This underground section is part of the larger Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ corridor and will reduce travel time while easing traffic congestion in the city’s central and southern stretches.

According to Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC), the newly launched Phase 2A adds around 10 kilometres of operational underground track to the city’s expanding metro network. This stretch covers six stations: Dharavi, Sitaladevi, Dadar, Siddhivinayak, Worli, and Acharya Atre Chowk. Commuters can now travel from Aarey to Worli in just 36 minutes, saving nearly 45 minutes compared to road travel during peak hours.
As reported by Business Standard, trains run every 6.5 minutes during peak periods and every 15 to 20 minutes at off-peak times. The fare ranges from ₹10 to ₹60, offering affordable and convenient options for residents and office-goers.

Passengers can now use this stretch of the Aqua Line from Monday to Saturday between 6:30 AM and 10:30 PM. On Sundays, services start slightly later at 8:30 AM and run until 10:30 PM. According to The Indian Express, passengers can access tickets via the MetroConnect3 mobile app or opt for the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC), which works across multiple transport modes.
This move is expected to particularly benefit working professionals commuting between BKC and Worli, a route notorious for bottlenecks and unpredictable traffic delays.

According to Mid-day, one of the project’s most complex engineering feats involved tunnelling beneath the Mithi River using advanced Tunnel Boring Machines and the New Austrian Tunnelling Method. This ensured structural safety and timely execution without disrupting the surrounding infrastructure.
With Phase 2A now live, the final leg of Metro Line 3—from Acharya Atre Chowk to Colaba—is expected to be completed by the end of 2025. Once finished, the full 33.5-kilometre corridor will provide a seamless underground transit experience across Mumbai, connecting major commercial and residential hubs with ease.
The launch of Metro Line 3 Phase 2A represents a major milestone in Mumbai’s push for modern, eco-friendly, and efficient transportation.
