MSSN, TMC Mourn Buhari As Nigeria's Former President Laid To Rest In Daura
The Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN), Lagos State Area Unit, in her condolence message, mourned the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari. In a statement signed by its Amir, Mal. Kamoldeen Abiona, the Muslim students body described him as a leader whose life was defined by discipline, public service, and a visible commitment to national development, especially in the education sector. The former President returned to Allah in a London clinic on Sunday, July 13, aged 82. His remains was brought back to Nigeria and buried in the backyard of his home in Daura, Katsina state, on Tuesday, July 15, at exactly 5:50 p.m (Nigerian time). Nigeria’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu declared seven days of national mourning and a public holiday on Tuesday, July 15 to honour Buhari’s legacy. Mal Abiona extended heartfelt condolences to the late Muhammadu Buhari’s family, the government, and all Nigerians. He called on leaders and politicians to take a moment and reflect on the transitory nature of life, urging them to serve with integrity, justice, and selflessness. He said, “This solemn moment reminds us of the inescapable reality as enshrined in the Quran: ‘Every soul will taste death…’ (Surah Al-Ankabut 57). No matter one’s status, achievements, or lifespan, our earthly journey is temporary. “Let your legacy be defined by positive impact, not power. To all Citizens; live purposefully, ethically, and compassionately. Our deeds are the only enduring legacy we leave behind. “Life is a trust. Let us strive to be remembered for righteousness, service, and devotion to Allah and humanity,” he stated. Amir MSSN Lagos prayed for the repose of late former President’ soul. “We pray to Allah (SWT) to grant him mercy, forgive his shortcomings, and admit him into Al-Jannah Firdaus. May He grant his family and loved ones the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss,” he said. Buhari’s legacy extends far beyond his two-term as President – TMC The National headquarters of The Muslim Congress (TMC) joined the nation and the global community in mourning the death of a towering figure in Nigeria’s history, Muhammadu Buhari. Amir TMC, Alhaji AbdulWasiu Bangbala, in a statement, paid glowing tribute to the late former president, saying Buhari’s legacy extends far beyond his two terms as a democratically elected president. According to him, A disciplined military leader turned statesman, he embodied integrity and a quiet dignity. His unwavering commitment to fighting corruption, his focus on infrastructural development and his steadfast dedication to national security defined his presidency. “While his policies sparked debate at times, as is the fate of all leaders, his sincerity and commitment to a better Nigeria were never in question,” he added. Quoting his famous words, “I belong to everybody and I belong to nobody,”, Alhaji Bangbala said it perfectly encapsulated Buhari’s dedication to impartial leadership. “We remember his efforts to foster agricultural growth, his impactful social investment programmes and the enduring legacy of his infrastructural projects. Though human, and therefore imperfect, we pray Allah (SWT) forgives his shortcomings and grants him a lofty station in the afterlife,” he concluded.
