MP horror: 7-month pregnant teen pushed into gorge by married lover, his cousin; suspects held | Bhopal News - Times of India
DAMOH: A married man and his cousin pushed an 18-year-old pregnant girl down a gorge in Telan Road near the Singhrampur outpost of Jabera police station in Damoh district of Madhya Pradesh on Monday after she sought help for treatment of her pregnancy. The survivor received critical injuries and is stable at the hospital but the pregnancy got terminated due to the injury.The two accused have been arrested.The survivor who is a native of Katni was found seriously wounded by a panchayat representative some 50 kms away from Damoh district headquarter. A local rushed her to the community centre from where she was referred to district hospital, police said.tnn Teen says man raped & tried to kill her Initially the survivor told police that two men assaulted her and pushed her down the gorge. Later when it was confirmed that she was seven months pregnant, she confided in police that her lover- a married man- and his cousin had pushed her down. She said that she approached the accused for her treatment but he along with his cousin took her to Damoh and raped her before pushing her down.Damoh SP Shrut Kirti Somvanshi said a case has been registered based on the victim's statement and transferred to Katni district, later.
She went missing from her home around 2 pm on Sunday.The two suspects were arrested from Mahiar to Katni and are currently being interrogated. Katni SP Abhinay Vishwakarma confirmed the arrests. "The girl says she was taken to Damoh on a bike on the pretext of getting treatment for her pregnancy. There, they tried to kill her by throwing her into a valley. When they failed, they fled. Her claims are being verified," he said.Police had booked the prime accused on the charge of rape. Sections under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act were also invoked as the victim was a minor when she was raped, police officials.(The victim's identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme court directives on cases related to sexual assault)
