Manchester United faced an injury scare with midfielder Mason Mount during their recent 1-1 friendly draw against Paris Saint-Germain in Gothenburg. Head coach Michael Carrick expressed caution regarding Mount's condition, stating that they had to be "careful" after the England international received a kick. Mount, who joined United from Chelsea in a £55 million deal three years ago, has had a challenging time with injuries, starting only 25 Premier League games for the club in that period.

The 27-year-old midfielder has been successfully utilized by Carrick in a central midfield role throughout the preseason, leading to speculation that United might reconsider making another expected signing in that department. However, Mount's appearance in the friendly was cut short, as he played only 18 minutes before being replaced by Scotland international Tyler Fletcher. Carrick confirmed the reason for the substitution was a kick, emphasizing the team's desire to avoid further injuries, especially given their fortunate run without major setbacks so far in preseason.

Despite the initial concern, post-match video footage offered some reassurance, showing Mount walking freely onto the United team bus without any visible protective gear like a boot or knee support.

The match itself saw Paris Saint-Germain take an early lead within two minutes, with Ibrahim Mbaye capitalizing on a lapse in marking. Manchester United, however, managed to equalize in the 32nd minute through Bryan Mbeumo, who scored his third goal in two games following a strong performance from Amad Diallo. Mbeumo's goal followed his match-winning double against Atlético Madrid previously.

Manchester United's preseason schedule continues with a friendly against Leeds in Dublin on Wednesday, before they face AC Milan and their former manager Ruben Amorim next Saturday. The Red Devils are set to kick off their Premier League campaign against Hull on August 22.
