In a post shared on Monday, July 14, 2025, Kuria made public the resignation letter he had earlier addressed to Head of Public Service Felix Koskei.
Kuria shared the letter's contents online, framing the decision as not just a personal career move, but, in Kuria’s own words, a step taken in service of a higher national interest.
"Nation above self," he captioned the resignation letter shared on X.
Kuria told Koskei that his resignation was effective immediately and pledged to support a smooth transition.
In the letter dated July 8, Kuria expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve under Ruto, first in the Cabinet and later as a senior advisor in the Council of Economic Advisors.
"I sincerely appreciate your leadership and the support while working as a Cabinet Secretary and later Senior Advisor under the Kenya Kwanza Government.
It has been incredibly rewarding working in the implementation of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda," read part of the letter posted on his X account.
He further pledged to remain committed to ensuring a smooth and seamless transition during the period.
This confirmation came days after Kuria met Ruto, who he said had "graciously accepted" his decision to leave government.
Kuria’s departure marks the close of a politically charged chapter for the former Gatundu South MP and founder of Chama Cha Kazi.
The lawmaker who attempted a comeback through the 2022 Kiambu gubernatorial race but lost to Kimani Wamatangi cited personal reasons for his decision.

Though Kuria stopped short of revealing his next political move, the politician is believed to be eyeing a comeback ahead of the 2027 General Election.
"As I move on to pursue personal interests, I am proud of the work the president and I did," he said in the post.
In a related report, Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi praised Kuria following his exit from the government, calling him “a good man” and highlighting his evident drive to make a difference.
While his departure drew mixed opinions online, with some applauding his courage and others suspecting political strategy, Ahmednasir extended his best wishes for Kuria’s future endeavours.
Kuria is entitled to retirement benefits as a Cabinet secretary, having served in the position for 21 months.
