Mohbad Family Drama Deepens: Widow Faces Surname Demand, DNA Test Ultimatum!

The family of the late Nigerian music sensation, Ilerioluwa Aloba, famously known as Mohbad, has issued significant directives concerning his widow, Wunmi, and the management of his estate. Central to these directives is a clear instruction for Wunmi to cease using the Aloba family surname. This injunction is provisional, pending the conclusive outcome of a court-ordered DNA test specifically aimed at confirming the paternity of her son, Liam.

In an official statement, jointly endorsed by Adedara Aloba, who serves as the head of the Aloba family, and Joseph Aloba, a principal member, the family articulated that these measures are an integral part of their dedicated efforts. Their stated objective is to uphold the principles of justice, ensure full transparency, and foster accountability in all matters pertaining to the stewardship of Mohbad's enduring legacy.

To facilitate the lawful administration of the esteemed singer’s estate, the Aloba family has formally appointed a trio of administrators. These individuals are Samuel Ajewole Aloba, Engr. Ayodele Rasaq Famuyiwa, and Mrs. Alonge Ibukun Oluwaseun Aloba. Notably, the family has prudently reserved a potential position for Wunmi within this administrative structure, contingent upon the DNA test unequivocally confirming Liam’s biological relationship to Mohbad. The statement further clarified the scope of their authority: “These Administrators are authorised to immediately apply for Letters of Administration from the Probate Registry to lawfully manage all estate assets, including royalties, bank holdings, real and personal property, and musical intellectual property.”

Addressing the marital status of the deceased singer, the family explicitly stated that no statutory or customary marriage ever transpired between the late Mohbad and Wunmi. They underscored that the traditional Yoruba rites, which fundamentally include the essential payment of a bride price, were never duly completed, thus invalidating any claim of a formal union.

Regarding legal representation, the family announced a dual approach. Oladayo Ogungbe, Esq., of Ogungbe & Ogungbe Attorneys, has been designated as the family’s sole legal representative to manage all affairs related to the imperative DNA testing and the intricate details of the estate. Concurrently, Dr. Wahab Shittu, SAN, will maintain his existing role in engaging with investigative authorities as part of the ongoing inquiry into the cause of Mohbad’s untimely demise.

In a final, poignant disclosure, the family conveyed that a definitive new burial date and a comprehensive memorial plan for the beloved artiste will be formally communicated to the public. This announcement will follow the thorough conclusion of all internal deliberations and legal processes intrinsically linked to the critical DNA paternity issue, ensuring all arrangements are made with due diligence and respect.
