Minister’s ₦100M Election Fund Sparks Excitement in Niger South

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, has announced a significant donation of N100 million to the Niger South Senatorial District. This financial support is earmarked for preparations ahead of the Local Government Council elections scheduled for November 1, 2025, within the state. The announcement was made during an interactive session that focused on the upcoming elections, coinciding with the inauguration of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council in the Bida Local Government Area.
In his address, Minister Idris, who also serves as the Chairman of the APC Campaign Council for these grassroots elections, emphasized the importance of peaceful and credible electoral processes. He urged all politicians to shun politics of bitterness, strictly abide by the established rules, and foster an environment conducive to fair competition. Highlighting the inherent nature of politics as a game of numbers, he reminded Nigerlites that there would inevitably be winners and losers. He called upon them to demonstrate magnanimity in victory and graciousness in defeat, reinforcing the idea of a united populace in Niger State.
Further elaborating on the distribution of the donated funds, Alhaji Idris detailed that N10 million would be allocated to each of the eight local government areas within the Niger South Senatorial District. These areas include Bida, Agaie, Lapai, Katcha, Edati, Mokwa, Lavun, and Gbako. Additionally, N20 million from the total donation would be specifically set aside to support women and youth initiatives related to the elections.
Beyond the electoral discourse, the Minister also addressed pressing national concerns, particularly recent bandit attacks that have plagued the Niger North Senatorial District. He unequivocally reaffirmed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s steadfast commitment to ensuring the protection of lives and property across the entirety of Nigeria. He assured the public that security agencies are actively engaged and would continue their relentless efforts to guarantee the safety of residents in Niger State and other affected regions of the country.
Concluding his remarks, Minister Idris touched upon the broader economic landscape, stating that President Tinubu’s reform agenda was beginning to yield positive results. He indicated that these reforms are successfully steering Nigeria’s economy toward a path of sustained growth. He expressed confidence that with the continued unwavering support of Nigerians, the nation would achieve even greater progress and development.
