Ahmedabad: On Sunday, the minimum temperature in the city was 19.2 degrees celsius, which was 4 degrees above the normal minimum temperature. On Saturday, the city's minimum temperature was 15.2 degrees. At 34 degrees, the maximum temperature was also 2.9 degrees higher than normal.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast indicated that the minimum temperature is likely to be around 19 degrees on Monday.
"Night temperatures rose appreciably in parts of Saurashtra; rose markedly in parts of the North Gujarat region; no large change over the rest of the region," mentioned the IMD report, adding that there will be no large change in minimum or maximum temperatures in the next five days in the region.
At 15.6 degrees, Naliya recorded the lowest minimum temperature, whereas at 35.8 degrees, Bhavnagar recorded the highest maximum temperature in the state. Met department officials said that with half of Feb still remaining, there are slim chances that the region may experience a major cold condition. The temperatures are likely to remain up with westerly to north-westerly winds prevailing over the region. However, the official set-in of summer may take some time, they added.
