Rivers Government Debunks Reports of Obasanjo and PANDEF Delegation Visit to Fubara

The Rivers State Government has refuted reports circulating on social media alleging that a delegation from the Pan-Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) and former President Olusegun Obasanjo visited Governor Siminalayi Fubara at the Government House on Sunday, March 16, 2025. The government has labeled these reports as false and misleading.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Nelson Chukwudi, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, addressed the claims, asserting that they are the creation of detractors and enemies of the state who oppose the peace, good governance, and development efforts of Governor Fubara's administration. Chukwudi emphasized the need to dispel the misinformation to prevent the spread of erroneous beliefs among the public.
According to the statement, no such visit occurred. "There was no such visit by any delegation of PANDEF to Governor Fubara on the said date, neither did Chief Obasanjo visit him as claimed by our detractors," Chukwudi clarified. He further stated that the narratives being circulated on social media are purely the product of the imagination of those who wish to undermine the progress being made by the current administration.
The Chief Press Secretary reiterated Governor Fubara's commitment to fully implementing the Supreme Court's judgment regarding the political situation in Rivers State. He noted that the Governor has already initiated the necessary processes to comply with the court's orders. However, he pointed out that the Rivers State House of Assembly has not been cooperative in facilitating the resolution of the issues raised by the court.
The statement reaffirmed that Governor Fubara is prepared to take all necessary steps to resolve the outstanding issues and ensure the smooth functioning of all branches of government within the state. He remains committed to upholding the rule of law and fostering a stable and prosperous environment for the people of Rivers State.
The government urged the public to disregard the false information being spread on social media and to rely on official sources for accurate updates regarding the activities of the state government.
