Miley Cyrus reveals she landed in ICU after shooting for album on Hollywood Boulevard | - Times of India
Miley Cyrus is known for her boundary-pushing artistry but her latest creative venture nearly pushed her health to the edge. In an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the Grammy-winning singer revealed that she was briefly hospitalised in the ICU after contracting a severe infection, apparently caused by filming a scene while rolling on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for her upcoming visual album. The incident took place in October 2023, when Cyrus shot parts of the visual companion to her ninth studio album 'Something Beautiful,' set to release on May 30. While discussing the shoot, she told Kimmel, “I caught something," a line that got laughs until she explained the seriousness of the situation.Just weeks after the shoot, Cyrus said she ended up in the ICU around Thanksgiving. According to her, doctors were baffled by the brutal infection localised around her kneecap. “My leg began to disintegrate in some way,” she said after recalling how even seasoned surgeons reacted with disgust. “To have a surgeon look at you and say, ‘Yuck,’ they see inside the guts of humans!”The source of the infection? The rough conditions of the iconic sidewalk itself.
With budget limitations during production, Cyrus opted to film guerrilla-style at night rather than renting out the space. “I had a big dream and a small budget,” she admitted. “Well I had a good budget but I spent it all on my clothes.”
The infection isn’t the only health concern the 'Flowers' singer has faced recently. While promoting 'Something Beautiful,' she also opened up about other medical issues, including a ruptured ovarian cyst during her 2022 New Year’s Eve special. Additionally, she’s living with Reinke’s edema and a vocal cord polyp which significantly impacts her ability to tour. “It’s like running a marathon with ankle weights on,” she told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe.
