The 43-year-old hip-hop artiste shared his thoughts during a of ‘The Manism Podcast’, where he reflected on Nigeria’s political landscape.

“I tweeted about the thing that happened in Benue, and a lot of people were saying, ‘But M.I., you supported the APC’,” he said.
“Yes, I supported APC because at that time, I felt that the PDP government was very corrupt. I was part of the people who lifted my voice to say, ‘Let us stand and bring in democracy’.
“As a human being, no matter how much you try to be right, you will be wrong. APC, unfortunately, is not the APC of my dreams.”
The rapper’s comments come days after Aminatu Papapa admitted she supporting President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 elections.
Actor Alapini also his regret, citing a lack of compensation or recognition for himself and other celebrities who backed the president.
In 2023, actress Ronke Oshodi Oke her disappointment for supporting the APC after witnessing the government’s handling of the EndSARS protests.
MI: HOW ELDEE PAVED THE WAY FOR ME AS A RAPPER
MI also acknowledged the influence of some veteran Nigerian artistes on his musical journey.
He specifically highlighted Lanre ‘Eldee’ Dabiri, a member of the defunct hip-hop group Trybesmen, as a major inspiration.
According to him, Trybesmen, comprising Eldee, Kaboom, and Freestyle, paved the way for his success in the industry.
He also credited rappers like Ruggedman and Eedris Abdulkareem for shaping his early career.
“This is the reason why I personally do not like it when people say no one paved the way for them. Because for me, what I understand is that what inspired me to rap was the fact that I listen to rap, and I love to rap,” he said.
“I was creative. Most people have that story when they are young. There is something they love.
“When I was young, I used to draw cartoons. There was no animation studio in Nigeria. By myself, I gave up the dream.
“But it’s a different thing when you are a young rapper and you drop the bars, and you see someone like Eldee D’Don and the Trybesmen.
“He is based in Atlanta. He is a great guest. He is now like a multi-millionaire in real estate. He went into tech, built it, sold it, started real estate and boom.
“Eldee is up. Then there is Ruggedman, who comes to the industry to show how it is done. And there is this guy called Eedris Abdulkareem. Eedris was like Burna Boy and VDM.
“I have the gift, and the world is being built around me.”
