Mexico's Ministry of Health, through the Federal Commission for the Protection Against Health Risks (COFEPRIS), renewed coordination agreements with all 32 states for the first time in over two decades, aiming to improve national regulatory capacity and public health surveillance.
Sheinbaum Inaugurates Maternal, Child Hospital in Veracruz
President Claudia Sheinbaum inaugurated the IMSS Bienestar Maternal and Child Hospital in Coatzacoalcos, which became the first state-run hospital in Veracruz dedicated exclusively to maternal and pediatric care.
Mexico Announces Over MX$10 Billion in Pharma Investments
The Government of Mexico announced a new investment of MX$10.48 billion (US$524 million) to expand the country’s pharmaceutical production capabilities. Mexico’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Juan Ramon de la Fuente met Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, India’s External Affairs Minister, on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro to discuss advancing the bilateral partnership, with an emphasis on the health, digital, technology, and space sectors. The meeting underscored the consolidation of a diplomatic relationship that began in 1950.
