Meralco plays Mongolia's Broncos in BCL Asia quarterfinals

MERALCO will face Mongolia's best ballclub, the Ulaanbaatar Xac Broncos, in the quarterfinals of the Basketball Champions League Asia 2025 in Dubai.

The game is set on Wednesday at the Coca Cola Arena following a draw held on Monday to determine the quarterfinal seedings.

The Broncos, a seven-time champion of Mongolia’s The League, finished with a 1-1 win-loss record in Group A, their lone win coming at the expense of Chinese Basketball Association champion Zhejiang Guangsha Lions, 84-67, last Saturday.

They lost to Tabiat Basketball, 99-85, in their final game of the group stage.

Florida State University product Ian Miller will be one of the players that Meralco must contain in order to beat the Broncos.

Azbayar Altangerel will also be in their focus being the reigning MVP of the 2024-25 season of The League.

The Bolts made it to the quarterfinal round of the BCL Asia after defeating Japan B.League champion Utsunomiya Brex, 97-86.

The winner of the Bolts-Broncos match will face either Iran club Tabiat Basketball or Utsunomiya Brex in the semifinals.

The other quarterfinal matches will see Waek Arakji and Al Riyadi Beirut Club against Zhejiang Guangsha Lions, and Dubai club Shabab Al Ahli battling Taiwan side Taoyuan Pauian Pilots.
