Here is what you need to know to get up to speed with today’s happenings.
Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salaysa is finally expected to be arraigned in court this Monday, 19, 2025, in Nairobi.
Salaysa, who was arrested during his tour of the county of Isiolo, has been under police custody since Friday after sleuths believed to be from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) nabbed him along the Isiolo-Nanyuki road.
The arrest came barely a week after the MP claimed to have escaped an attempt to arrest at a Mombasa hotel where he was booked during his ongoing presidential campaign tours in the county.
Reactions to the raid conducted at the residence of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s homes, both in Karen, Nairobi and his rural Wamunyoro’s residence, are set to headline the news event today.
According to a statement from lawyer Ndegwa Njiru, the DCI officers had taken over Gachagua’s Wamunyoro and Karen homes seeking to arrest him for unknown reasons.

“To all media houses, kindly be informed that the DCI has taken over all HE Rigathi Gachagua’s both at Karen and at Wamunyoro. They are currently man-hunting him. We are yet to be informed of the reason,” Njiru’s statement on X on Sunday, May 18, 2025, stated.
The raid came just hours after Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Kipchumba Murkomen, on Sunday, May 18, 2025, read a riot act to politicians, stating the government will initiate a crackdown on individuals spreading division across the country through inflammatory talks that could plunge the country into violence and bloodshed.
Murkomen ostensibly spoke after the former DP hinted at the recurrence of the violence witnessed in the aftermath of the 2022 elections if President William Ruto attempts to interfere with the 2027 elections.
The attempts to arrest Gachagua sparked condemnation from politicians, with Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka and newly launched Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) Deputy Leader Cleophas Malala castigating the development.
The case of missing Nakuru fisherman Brian Odhiambo, who went missing on January 18, 2025, at the hands of KWS officials at the Lake Nakuru National Park, is set to continue today in a Nakuru court.
This comes after six KWS officers charged for his disappearance were, on May 12, 2025, released on cash bail after denying the charges of abducting the fisherman.

Odhiambo’s disappearance four months ago sparked widespread protests in the county as residents demanded explanations from authorities over his disappearance.
Former Chief Justice Maraga on Sunday, May 18, 2025, implored for justice to be served as Odhiambo’s family returns to the courts today, hoping to find closure over their kin’s whereabouts.
