Mauritius Government Issues Urgent Communique on Latest Travel Advisories

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade of Mauritius has addressed recent travel advisories issued by Canada, the Russian Federation, and the United States of America. These advisories pertained to security measures and other considerations for tourists traveling to Mauritius.

In response, the Ministry has issued a strong reassurance to all prospective travelers, affirming that Mauritius remains an exceptionally safe destination. This assertion is supported by robust tourism figures, with 1,008,098 tourists having visited the island nation between January and September 2025. Furthermore, recent data for the period spanning January to December 27, 2025, indicates a negligible number of reported theft cases involving foreign nationals.

Analysis of these isolated incidents reveals that they are non-violent and opportunistic in nature, without suggesting any organized or systemic threats to visitors. Mauritius continues to uphold its high reputation for safety and tranquility, a characteristic shared with other prominent island destinations within the Indian Ocean region. The Ministry emphatically states its commitment to maintaining and enhancing its standards as one of the safest and most appealing tourist destinations in the area.

The Government of Mauritius places the highest priority on ensuring the security of both its own citizens and foreign nationals. It remains dedicated to safeguarding the interests of all tourists and will continue to implement proactive measures to guarantee the safety and security of everyone within its borders.
