Matt Olson replaces Ronald Acuna Jr. in the 2025 Home Run Derby | Flashscore.com

Atlanta Braves first baseman Matt Olson will partake in the 2025 Home Run Derby in place of teammate Ronald Acuna Jr., who withdrew from the competition due to back tightness.

However, Acuna Jr. will still play in the 2025 All-Star Game, representing the National League as one of their outfielders.

This won't be the first time Olson partook in the Derby. In 2021, as a member of the Athletics, Olson was bounced in the first round after losing to Trey Mancini

Now, he'll be making his return for the big night.

The three-time All-Star Olson has 17 home runs and 58 RBI on the year with a .844 OPS.

Olson is just two years removed from his historic 2023 season in which he hit 54 home runs and 139 RBI. He's currently just 13 homers short of surpassing his 29 that he put up in 2024.

Other Home Run Derby contestants include: Byron Buxton (Minnesota Twins), Junior Caminero (Tampa Bay Rays), Jazz Chisholm Jr. (New York Yankees), Oneil Cruz (Pittsburgh Pirates), James Wood (Washington Nationals), Brent Rooker (Athletics), and the MLB's home run leader in Cal Raleigh (Seattle Mariners).

The 2025 Home Run Derby will take place on July 14th at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time (July 15th - 02:00 CET).
