Manisha Koirala reflects on receiving Honorary Doctorate from University of Bradford: “It’s proof that no matter where you start, your journey matters”
Sharing the news on Instagram, the Dil Se.. actress posted a video from the graduation ceremony and reflected on her distinctive life journey. “Today, I received an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Bradford. I stand here not as someone who came through the traditional path of education, but as someone who learned through life — through hard work, failure, resilience, and service.”
Koirala expressed heartfelt gratitude to the university for acknowledging her journey and experiences. “This honor means more than I can put into words. It’s proof that no matter where you start, your journey matters. Thank you to the University of Bradford for seeing value in my story. Keep growing. Keep shining…" she wrote in her emotional post.
Alongside celebrating this significant professional achievement, Koirala also took a moment to honour someone very close to her heart. She paid tribute to her late grandmother, Sushila Koirala, through a touching Instagram post.
“Offering deepest tribute to mother Susila, who raised me, taught me the values of life and founded me the foundation of who I am today. My sweetest childhood memories are attached to her — whether learning life lessons, learning Bharatanatyam or Manipuri dance, or reading a book," she wrote.
Manisha Koirala referred to her grandmother as her “first teacher” and shared two photographs in her memory. Sushila Koirala, a renowned classical dancer and theatre director, passed away on 13 July 2007 in Kathmandu, Nepal.
On the professional front, Manisha Koirala was last seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s acclaimed Netflix series Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. Her portrayal of Mallikajaan received widespread praise and reaffirmed her powerful screen presence.
