Man dies after tempo hits cycle, another crushed between trucks

New Delhi: A 31-year-old man cycling to work died after being hit by a tempo near Azadpur Mandi on Saturday. In another incident, a 46-year-old man was crushed to death between two trucks in a parking area in northwest Delhi's SGT Nagar.A PCR call was made to Bhalswa Dairy police station at 5.30am to report the incident.

The complainant, Dharmendra Shah, who was cycling alongside the victim, told police that the two had left their homes around 5 am. "As the duo crossed the Libaspur bus stand on GT Karnal Road (NH-44), a tempo reportedly struck the victim, identified as Dalip, from behind at high speed. The collision was so forceful that Dalip was thrown onto the road, sustaining a severe chest injury," Dharmendra stated in his complaint. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead by doctors.The tempo driver fled the scene after the incident. A case was registered under sections 281 (rash driving or riding on a public way) and 106 (death due to negligence) of BNS. In the other incident, a 46-year-old man, identified as Deepak, was crushed to death between two heavy trucks when one of the trucks was reversing, police said. The accident took place around 2.30pm on Saturday.According to the statement given by Firoz Khan, who worked with Deepak, the victim got caught between the two heavy vehicles during the maneuver. "I shouted out to the driver that my conductor was stuck, and only then did he stop and move the vehicle forward," Khan said in his complaint.By then, Deepak had collapsed to the ground, bleeding from the mouth. He was rushed to a hospital but was declared brought dead. Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation.
