Man City Locks Down Star Defender: Rico Lewis Signs Massive Extension

Manchester City's versatile full-back, Rico Lewis, has officially signed a significant contract extension, committing his future to the club until the summer of 2030. The 20-year-old talent has penned a two-year extension to his previous deal, which was initially set to expire in 2028. Sources indicate there is also an option for an additional 12-month extension, potentially keeping him at the Etihad Stadium until 2031.
Lewis, who has been with Manchester City's esteemed academy since the age of eight, has swiftly progressed through the ranks. He is rapidly approaching 100 senior appearances for the club, having made his debut in August 2022. During his time with the first team, Lewis has been an integral part of a highly successful period, helping City secure numerous major trophies including two Premier League titles, the FA Cup, the UEFA Champions League, and the FIFA Club World Cup. His impressive performances have also earned him five caps for the England national team.
Despite being linked with a potential move to Nottingham Forest during the recent transfer window, Lewis remained resolute in his desire to stay with his boyhood club. Expressing his deep connection to Manchester City, Lewis stated, "Manchester City means everything to me so to have been given the opportunity to sign this new contract is such a special moment both for me personally and my family." He further added, "I am still improving and developing as a player, and I know that the opportunity to carry on working with Pep [Guardiola], his coaching team and our amazing squad will only help me to keep getting better. I have spent so much of my life at this club. City means everything to me, so to be able to stay longer makes me incredibly happy. I will give everything to try and help us look to achieve more success both this season and beyond." This extension underscores his commitment and the club's faith in his continued development and contribution.
