Ekiti State police command has arraigned one Ogunjobi Gbenga Francis, 50, at the Chief Magistrate Court over alleged threat to kill Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina with a dangerous weapon and charm.

The prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, said the defendants on or about March 15 at Oye-Ekiti, without lawful authority, entered a landed property belonging to Prof. Abayomi Fasina and unlawfully damaged the gate key and chain valued at N250,000.

Inspector Oriyomi added that the defendants entered the land and erected a structure therein.

The prosecutor noted that the offence was punishable under sections 46, 65, 369 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State and under Section 3(4) of the Ekiti State Property Protection (Anti-Land Grabbing) Law, 2019.

Counsel to the defendant, Barr E. O. Adedeji, urged the court to grant his client bail but the prosecutor objected, saying it involves threat to life.

Chief Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun remanded the defendant and adjourned till May 30, for ruling on the bail application.
