Makinde Unveils Voter-Centric Vision for 2027 Campaign

The Makinde/Daura Presidential Campaign Organisation has officially announced its strategic approach for the 2027 presidential election, emphasizing issue-based engagements and extensive consultations with citizens and stakeholders nationwide. This disclosure was made by Mr. Tony Ehilebo, Special Adviser on Media and Digital Communication to the presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Governor Seyi Makinde, during a news conference held in Abuja on Sunday. The announcement comes as political parties intensify preparations and engagements ahead of the polls, with the Presidential and National Assembly elections slated for January 16, 2027, and the campaign window closing on January 15.

Ehilebo outlined that a nationwide consultation and grassroots mobilization effort has already commenced. A series of zonal town hall meetings are scheduled to facilitate discussions on critical national issues directly impacting the country's stability and the well-being of its citizens. These meetings, described as issue-based and citizen-driven, aim to ensure leaders are accessible, accountable, and service-driven, and that national resources are transparently utilized for public benefit.

The campaign's engagement itinerary for various zones has been detailed. The North-West zone will host its town hall meeting in Katsina, Katsina State capital, on Tuesday, September 22, 2026. Following this, the South-South meeting is scheduled for Friday, September 25, in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. The North-Central zone will converge in Lafia, Nasarawa State, on Monday, September 28, while the South-East engagement is set for Enugu, Enugu State, on Wednesday, September 30. Dates for the remaining zones are expected to be communicated to Nigerians in due course.

Central to Governor Makinde's vision is the "Reset Nigeria" agenda, which seeks to establish a nation where governance is characterized by transparency, accountability, and a focus on public service. Ehilebo reiterated the campaign's core message: "Our message is to Reset Nigeria to a nation that truly works for all." He also highlighted the continuous support from Nigerians across the country for Makinde and his running mate, Alhaji Lawal Daura, noting their active mobilization in communities. As evidence of growing party support, Ehilebo cited the recent victory of the APM in the Bauchi State House of Assembly bye-election.
