Makhadzi Finds Solace in Music After Traumatic Car Accident
South Africa's beloved queen of dance music, Makhadzi, whose real name is Ndivhudzannyi Ralivhona, is demonstrating an incredible spirit of perseverance and hard work as she navigates her recovery journey. Determined not to let a recent car accident define her, the artist is making significant strides in her healing process after being discharged from the hospital and recuperating at home.
Makhadzi was involved in a car accident on the morning of December 31, 2025, while traveling from Limpopo to Johannesburg. Following her release from the hospital, she revealed earlier this week that she would be taking a 10-week hiatus from performing to dedicate her full attention to her recovery. In a social media post, she shared, "I'm now discharged from the hospital so that my family can take care of me until I get back to normal."
During her recuperation, Makhadzi has channeled her experiences into her art, penning an inspirational song that reflects on her healing journey. She took to TikTok and Instagram to share a preview of her new track with her eager fans and followers. In a heartfelt video, she explained the song's origin: "My physio started attending to me yesterday. After the session, I was lonely, I decided to record myself this song. I got the beats from a guy I don't know. I think he sent me this beat a long time ago and I didn't see it. I just found it on my search. But I am coming back. I am healing."
The lyrics of the unreleased song offer a powerful message of hope and recovery, with Makhadzi singing, "I'm on the way, I'm gonna heal. I was reducing, making better my operation. I can see, I can talk, but I was making my operation feel better." Despite not being formally released, the track has already resonated deeply with listeners, quickly gaining traction and trending on TikTok.
Fans have poured out their positive responses and well wishes. Comments like "@caroline.blessie: A true reflection of positivity and strong belief in inner confidence. Be healed, our queen," and "@nomaqheyagatsheni: Speedy recovery, Makhadzi... this song is a hit by the way - therapeutic," highlight the song's impact. Another fan, @dakalo16, expressed surprise at the speed of her creativity, "I expected a song, yet I am surprised there's already a song," while @revonian6 offered encouragement, "I knew that nothing can stop you from singing. Speedy recovery, Makhadzi wa vho rine."
Encouraged by the overwhelming positive reception, Makhadzi has promised to release the full version of the song in the upcoming week. She stated, "People seem to love the song. I will finish it today and drop it next Friday. Please tell any producers to send me beats so I don't get bored." Her unwavering dedication to her craft, even amidst recovery, continues to inspire her fanbase and beyond.
