Professor Makau Mutua has recommended the sacking of the University of Nairobi council chairman, Professor Amukowa Anangwe.

Mutua, who is President William Ruto's advisor on constitutional affairs, accused Amukowa of running down the university, evidenced by the flawed process of appointing the new vice chancellor.

He asserted that the University of Nairobi had lost its glory due to Amukowa's style of leadership, hence the need to have him ousted.

"Professor Amukowa Anangwe must be IMMEDIATELY removed as Chairman of the Council of the University of Nairobi. He’s completely failed to lead Kenya’s iconic institution of higher learning. Our university lies in ruins. The man can’t even get right the appointment of the Vice Chancellor," Makau said.
