Maiduguri Rocked by Deadly Bombings, IGP Vows Heightened Security and Justice

Maiduguri, the Borno state capital, was rocked by a series of bomb blasts on Monday evening, resulting in a tragic loss of life and numerous injuries. The Borno state police command confirmed that 23 persons were killed and 108 others injured in the explosions, which occurred at approximately 7:24 pm. The attacks targeted three distinct locations: a main market, the gate of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH), and the Post Office flyover, highlighting a coordinated assault on civilian areas.

He affirmed that security has been significantly bolstered across Maiduguri and surrounding areas through increased police deployments, heightened surveillance, robust joint operations, and closer monitoring, all aimed at preventing further attacks and safeguarding lives and property.
