Madonna's Star-Studded 'Confessions II' Cameo Filming Revealed!

Pop icon Madonna recently offered fans an exclusive look behind the creation of her “Confessions II” short film, specifically highlighting the star-studded “Danceteria” sequence. The new clip, released on Monday, July 6, takes viewers on a nostalgic journey, showcasing how Madonna enlisted a host of Hollywood’s biggest celebrities to dance and revel on set to her new song, also titled “Danceteria.”

The inspiration for the track and sequence comes from the legendary New York City nightclub, Danceteria, a venue that hosted countless wild nights in the early and mid-1980s. Madonna herself refers to this as a “trip down memory lane” at the beginning of the behind-the-scenes video, which includes historic photos of the long-closed club. The short film, which premiered in June, pays homage to the club’s iconic atmosphere through its vibrant “Danceteria” segment.

To recreate the club’s distinctive vibe, Madonna and her crew meticulously crafted a busy bathroom scene. In this sequence, Madonna’s character has an encounter with actress Odessa A’zion, who plays Marty Supreme and spills her drink. Later, the Queen of Pop is depicted in a stall, caught in a compromising position with a guy by “Game of Thrones” alum Gwendoline Christie, who enthusiastically expressed to the BTS camera, “I’ve waited my whole life to do this.”

The “Confessions II” extended visual features numerous notable personalities. Gwendoline Christie, after her scene, complimented Benedict Cumberbatch’s dancing, stating, “I enjoyed your dancing, you were fabulous.” Cumberbatch himself shared a flirtatious dance-floor rendezvous with Madonna, with the pop star hyping him up before filming by asking, “Are you ready to dance?” to which the British actor eagerly responded, “Oh, yeah.”

Other prominent figures making appearances in the electrifying “Danceteria” sequence include fashion icon Kate Moss, DJ Honey Dijon, and artist Shygirl. The broader “Confessions II” film also features talents like Sabrina Carpenter and Julia Garner in other captivating scenes. This project marks a significant return for Madonna, as “Confessions II” serves as the long-awaited follow-up to her critically acclaimed 2005 album, “Confessions on a Dance Floor,” and her first full-length studio album since 2019’s Billboard 200 chart-topper, “Madame X.” The album officially dropped on Friday, inviting fans to immerse themselves in Madonna’s latest musical and visual spectacle.
