Luxury Rovos Rail Journey Thrills 54 Tourists on Return to Angola!
The luxury train, Rovos Rail, has made its sixth journey to Angola, bringing a diverse group of 54 tourists from various continents, including the United States of America, Canada, Australia, South Africa, Brazil, Asia, and Europe. These expeditions, which began in 2019 and became more regular from 2022, aim to explore Angola's natural and cultural riches, highlighting the country's growing tourism potential.
On Monday, the Rovos Rail, originating from Tanzania and traveling via the Benguela Railways (CFB), visited the municipality of Cuito, capital of Bié Province. Tourists explored the memorial of the Battle of Cuito, located in the commune of Cunje, a significant site where over seven thousand bodies are interred. Nicholas Cophil, a South African tourist, emphasized that such initiatives demonstrate Angola's safety for fostering its tourism industry. Isaías Cristovão Lucondo, administrator of Cunje, underscored the importance of these foreign visits for promoting Angola's image abroad and showcasing the province's tourism and cultural potential, suggesting it could evolve into a strong national tourism industry.
Earlier, on Saturday, the Rovos Rail arrived in Luau, Moxico Province, where tourists were immersed in the vibrant culture of the Tchokwe people through exhibitions of dance, music, and gastronomy. The journey continues along the CFB, with plans to visit the city of Huambo before concluding in the southern province of Benguela, exploring the natural beauty and diverse cultures of the Angolan regions along the Lobito corridor.
