Their romance unfolded in the 1970s after an initial encounter at a Sheffield hotel. Reflecting on their first passionate evening, Lulu admitted her memory was somewhat hazy due to having consumed a few drinks, finally confessing to having had sex with Bowie after years of choosing not to speak about it publicly. She emphasized that the experience of being in his orbit and working with him was incredible, feeling that he truly "honoured" her.

The Scottish songstress, known for "To Sir With Love" and her collaboration with Take That on "Relight My Fire," was involved with Bowie in the mid-70s while he was married to Angie. Lulu recalled Bowie's significant encouragement for her musical career, highlighting his invaluable guidance. She stated that their relationship transcended physical intimacy, explaining, "It's about a much deeper thing than that. And that was what we shared. I felt he saw me."
