Lubinda Unleashes On Zumani: PF Unity Cracks Amid Apology Demands

Disputes are escalating within the Patriotic Front (PF) and the broader Tonse Alliance, according to party insider Lubinda. He asserts that the activities of Zumani Zimba are deliberately causing division within the PF, portraying Lubinda and SG Raphael Nakacinda as impediments to party appointments. Lubinda notes that individuals aligning with Zimba are often those previously appointed by him, further exacerbating internal rifts.
A significant point of contention within the Tonse Alliance revolves around the foundational agreement regarding the PF's role. Lubinda revealed discussions suggesting that the PF should no longer be considered the anchor party of the alliance, a position that directly contradicts the initial conditions agreed upon for the PF's participation. He highlighted concerns that the alliance's governing document has become a "moving document," subject to changes without proper consultation and approval from all members of the Council of Leaders. To address this, Makebi Zulu, Deputy Chairperson for Legal Affairs in the PF, and FDD president Chifumu Banda, along with another lawyer from the original drafting team, have been tasked with revisiting and regenerating a workable document based on the PF's original terms of reference and rules of engagement. While alliance members initially provided no input, they have been urged to re-engage in this crucial process.
Adding to the turmoil, Lubinda reported Zumani Zimba to the police following the publication of a false WhatsApp conversation on Zimba's Facebook page. Zimba allegedly posted a screenshot, complete with Lubinda's profile picture and dated March 3, 2025, claiming Lubinda had approved a list and questioning the legacy of Edgar Chagwa Lungu. Lubinda vehemently denied the existence of any such conversation on his phone, expressing shock, especially after advocating for honesty and sincerity within the alliance just the day prior. He stressed the imperative to protect his long-standing reputation from being "slaughtered at the altar of political expediency" and from being falsely accused of engaging in fake online interactions. Lubinda stated his intention to obtain a warrant for ZICTA to produce authentic records, asserting that his silence on previous accusations should not be mistaken for complacency, particularly when fabricated lies are permanently documented on the World Wide Web.
