Looking back at bangers from iconic Praye trio and what they are about now
Praye is a Ghanaian music group
In the vibrant history of Ghanaian music, few names resonate like Praye.
Made up of Eugene Baah (Praye Ho Ne Ho), Steven Fiawoo (Praye Tiatia), and Nana Kwame (Praye Tenten), this dynamic hiplife trio has long been a household name, celebrated for their powerful messages, feel-good energies, and unforgettable hits.
A symbolic beginning
Their name, Praye, which translates as broom in English, is more than symbolic. It represents unity and a bold mission to sweep away social vices through music.
After winning the NESCAFE African Revelations pop contest, Praye quickly rose to fame with a blend of highlife, hip-hop, and African pop.
Songs like Shordy and 'Efie Ne Fie,' turned them into one of Ghana’s most exciting musical exports. Their style: funny, catchy, and thought-provoking, earned them fans across generations.
They continued to ride that wave with bangers like:
* Angelina
* Disco Light
* Adesewa
* Kesu (Remix)
* And the fan-favorite, Gbang Gbai
A pause and a powerful Comeback
At the height of their fame, Praye unexpectedly disbanded, leaving fans wondering what went wrong. But in 2018, they shocked the nation with a dramatic reunion at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).
Since then, they've been working under EKB Records, with respected manager, Kiki Banson, steering the ship.
Praye Tiatia has assured fans that past tensions had been put to rest and that the broom was whole again and ready to sweep.
The group has, however, since kept a low profile.
The question many people continue to ask is, What’s happening behind the scenes, or What are they up to?
Other fans have been asking, 'Are they quietly cooking up something big? Is a new era of Praye music on the horizon?'
Whatever they are planning, one thing is certain, Praye still has the power to shake the industry.
Whether sweeping away the old or bringing in something fresh, the trio’s next move is being watched, and highly anticipated.
