Likely rain showers with possible thunderstorms are in the forecast for part of the weekend before some sun returns, according to the National Weather Service, bringing cooler temperatures after days of record-setting heat.

But temperatures will climb back up midday Saturday, to a high of 84 degrees — still less than the triple-digit temperatures from earlier in the week.

Friday morning's 20% chance of rain, on a day with a high of 71 degrees, gives way to likely rain showers at night, the forecast says.

Saturday's forecast calls for rain as well, with mostly sunny skies that could open up with rain at night.

Sunday will be mostly sunny, around 84 degrees, going down to 67 at night.
