Liberia Unveils Ambitious Landmark Tourism Hub in Robertsport
Liberia has officially broken ground on a new TVET Hospitality and Tourism Training Center in Robertsport, Grand Cape Mount County, marking a major step in expanding skills development and leveraging the country's tourism potential. This initiative, part of the 'Youth Rising Project' and supported by the European Union, aims to provide practical training in hospitality and eco-tourism. The center is expected to be completed within nine months, strengthening local economies and empowering youth across all 15 counties.The Government of Liberia, in a significant collaborative effort with the European Union, officially inaugurated the construction of a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Hospitality and Tourism Training Center. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on Tuesday, May 5, at the Tubman Cultural Center site in Robertsport, Grand Cape Mount County. This initiative marks a crucial stride in Liberia's nationwide agenda to expand skills development and unlock its substantial tourism potential.
This pioneering project forms an integral part of Phase II of the 'Youth Rising Project,' a broad national initiative designed to establish TVET institutions across all 15 counties of Liberia. The implementation of this vital program is a joint effort by the Ministries of Education and Youth and Sports, underpinned by financial backing from the European Union and technical assistance from the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).
Education Minister Jarso Mallay-Jallah, speaking at the event, highlighted the groundbreaking as a testament to the robust collaboration between the government, its development partners, and local leadership. She expressed gratitude to the European Union and, importantly, to the leadership of Grand Cape Mount County, emphasizing that their cooperation was fundamental to the project's realization. Minister Mallay-Jallah specifically lauded Grand Cape Mount County Senator Dabah M. Varpillah for her pivotal role in securing the necessary land for the training center, underscoring that clear land ownership is a critical prerequisite for attracting and securing development investments. She urged local authorities in other counties to expedite similar land acquisition processes, stressing that
