Lexie Hull's Message to Sophie Cunningham That Has Nothing To Do With Basketball
Amid the massive Indiana Fever roster overhaul around Caitlin Clark during the WNBA offseason, new guard Sophie Cunningham has wasted no time fitting in.
The returning Fever star who deserves some credit for the assist in Cunningham's transition is not the point guard Clark, but rather fourth-year player Lexie Hull — whose off-court interests have clicked with her new teammate right away.
Clark, Hull, Cunningham and the rest of the Fever will debut their new look on the floor against Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky in their first game of the 2025 season, which promises to be one of the best of opening weekend.
Ahead of the big game, Hull sent a personal message to Cunningham publicly via her Instagram story. It had nothing to do with basketball, but underlined the chemistry of the Fever "twins" off the court.
Hull shared a post featuring a meme of Timothee Chalamet and Kylie Jenner that had multiple captions, but the one about "a UV index of 8 and a beveragino" caught her attention and urged her to tag Cunningham.
Cunningham reposted it on her own story, adding the caption, "this is why I love you already."
It fit in seamlessly with the former Phoenix Mercury player's other posts on Thursday, which included a poolside selfie video showing her soaking in the sunshine as she tried to rest her injured ankle before the Fever's first game.
The two new teammates became tanning partners during Indiana's preseason training camp, a fact that was exposed by a funny public exchange between Clark and Cunningham.
When Clark posted her photos from media day on Instagram, Cunningham commented "the tan will come… everything else is perf."
Clark had the perfect response when Cunningham posted a picture with Hull later that day. "Little less tanning. A little more bball ladies," she clapped back.
Clark's comment amassed more than 17,000 likes, a nod of recognition for the growing chemistry of Indiana's backcourt trio as the WNBA season arrives.
