Last year, Reese stated that the increased viewership of women's basketball was attributable not only to Clark but also to herself. When questioned about these remarks during Chicago's media day, Reese responded with "next question," which has drawn criticism from fans.

Fans have criticized Reese for her earlier comments and her subsequent refusal to address them. One fan commented, "I promise i will be off of Angel's case for a minute once this season starts cause the constant [expletive] on her i find annoying too, BUT... She 100% has brought all of this on herself. They are literally asking her about something SHE said."
