'Next Question': Angel Reese Shuts Down Reporter After Caitlin Clark Related Question

Published 17 hours ago3 minute read

Chicago Sky star Angel Reese shut down one interview question that tried to point back to one of her iconic quotes from last year.

In one of her recent press interviews, Angel Reese had one reporter ask him about her bold statement last year. However, she cut off the reporter before the question was even finished.

“Last year, you made a powerful statement saying the reason people are watching women’s basketball is not just because of one player but because of you, too. A year later, do you feel like…” the reporter wasn’t allowed to complete.

“Next question,” Reese interrupted.

Angel Reese made a bold statement last year, emphasizing that the rise in women’s basketball viewership wasn’t solely due to one player but also because of her contributions.

She said, “The reason why we’re watching women’s basketball is not just because of one person. It’s because of me, too. I want y’all to realize that.” Reese highlighted the growing attention on the sport, noting that more people were attending games, including celebrities, and that arenas were selling out.

Her comments came amid discussions about the impact of Caitlin Clark on the WNBA’s popularity, with Reese asserting that many players, including herself, had played a role in the league’s growth.

She also acknowledged the criticism she had received but embraced it, stating that she was willing to take on the “bad guy role” for her teammates and the sport’s advancement.

Angel Reese, who usually plays forward for the Chicago Sky, has expressed her willingness to be flexible and play point guard if that is what the team needs to improve their game.

“I’ve always been a player for the team,” Reese said in a recent press interview. “Every team I’ve been a part of, I’ve been a player for the team. I was a player that did what the team needed and got to a championship, as people can see.”

“Coming here, obviously (Courtney Vandersloot) was out last game, coach emphasized, ‘I need you to play point guard sometimes.’ I’m willing to go whatever it is for the team. I don’t do it for you guys, or what you guys can see. It’s for what my team needs.”
