USIU-A Teams Face Key Matches

Published 5 hours ago2 minute read

Former Kenya Basketball Federation Women’s Premier League champions, United States International University of Africa (USIU-A) Flames, are set to compete against African Nazarene University (ANU) Panthers and Equity Bank Hawks this weekend. These matches, along with other Men’s Premier League and lower-tier games, have been relocated to ANU due to the unavailability of Nyayo Gymnasium. However, key matches, including USIU-Tigers versus University of Nairobi (UoN) Terror and Ulinzi Warriors against Umoja Basketball, will proceed at Nyayo.

The Flames aim to secure maximum points to strengthen their position in the top eight, while the Panthers are seeking their first victory to avoid relegation. USIU-A, last champions in 2015, will aim for a double against Hawks, despite the challenge posed by the increasingly competitive bankers. Equity will also face UoN Dynamites, and Safe Spaces will compete against Stanbic Aces.

ANU Panthers and Wolfpacks have multiple matches scheduled, with Panthers playing Th3 Swish and Wolfpacks facing National Bank of Kenya (NBK) Phoenix. Ulinzi Warriors are determined to avenge their previous loss to Umoja and improve their standing in the top four. USIU-A Tigers will clash with Terror, and ANU Wolfpacks will host Equity Bank Dumas.

In Division One, National secondary schools champions Butere Girls will host Kisii University Vipers and Strathmore University Swords.

Separately, United States International University of Africa (USIU-A) men’s hockey team aims to continue their winning streak against Kenya Police and Nairobi Sikh Union. Following a recent victory against Western Jaguars, the team, coached by John Kabuu, is focused on winning their first trophy. USIU-A is currently second in the standings, tied with Butali Warriors.

This weekend, they will face Kenya Police, who are struggling, and Sikh Union, who are third in the standings. Defending champions Western Jaguars will seek their first victory against Strathmore University Gladiators. Wazalendo also aims to climb the standings with matches against KCA University and Parklands Sports Club.

In the Women’s Premier League, USIU-A Spartans hope to recover from recent losses in Kisumu. They will compete against Sliders, seeking to improve their standings after a mixed performance this season.
