Lewis Capaldi Unleashes New Single 'Something In The Heavens' to Instant Sell-Out Success

Lewis Capaldi has marked a triumphant return to the music scene, highlighted by the unveiling of his latest single, "Something In The Heavens." Co-written with Connor and Riley McDonough, the track is a powerful exploration of themes such as loss and resilience, interwoven with a profound message of hope. Capaldi’s performance on the song is described as soul-stirring and emotionally unflinching, qualities also showcased in its accompanying live video, recorded at the iconic Abbey Road.

The release of the single coincided with Capaldi embarking on a highly anticipated 17-date sold-out UK arena tour. This tour signified his first full-scale return to the stage in two years, following a necessary hiatus in 2023 to prioritize his health. Throughout the tour, audiences in cities like Sheffield, Aberdeen, Glasgow, and London enthusiastically sang the lyrics back to him, demonstrating overwhelming fan support. The tour culminated with a successful three-night run at The O2 in London, with the final show streamed live on TikTok, garnering significant critical acclaim through numerous four and five-star reviews.

Further solidifying his comeback, Capaldi announced the biggest headline dates of his career while still on his arena tour. These include eight major outdoor concerts across the UK and Ireland scheduled for summer 2026. The series will commence at Marlay Park in Dublin on June 24, 2026, and feature a highly anticipated headline slot at BST Hyde Park in London on July 11. Pre-sale tickets were made available, with general sale starting Friday, September 19th at 9:00 am.

Capaldi’s return has also been significantly buoyed by impressive chart success. His first single of 2025, "Survive," soared to number one, becoming the fastest-selling single of the year and his sixth UK number one overall. This achievement places him in an elite group alongside artists such as Beyoncé, Britney Spears, and Drake, surpassing the records of David Bowie and Katy Perry. Beyond the UK, Capaldi introduced his new material to international audiences, performing "Survive" on prestigious US television programs like The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Good Morning America.

His presence at Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage in June drew a headliner-sized crowd, where he delivered a powerful half-hour set featuring both beloved classics and the live debut of "Survive." He shared with the crowd his intention to "finish what I couldn’t finish last time," referencing his previous departure. Prior to his official re-entry into the public eye, Capaldi engaged in low-key Scottish warm-up shows in May. These intimate performances were staged in collaboration with the mental health charity CALM for Mental Health Awareness Week, providing a gentle reintroduction to live audiences without overwhelming expectation.

Capaldi’s discography boasts significant achievements. His previous album, "Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent," yielded three UK number ones with "Pointless," "Wish You The Best," and "Forget Me." It became his second UK number one album, famously outselling the rest of the Top 10 combined in its opening week. This followed his critically acclaimed 2019 debut, "Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent," which remains one of the best-selling albums of recent years and featured the global sensation "Someone You Loved." In 2023, his candid Netflix documentary, "Lewis Capaldi: How I’m Feeling Now," offered an intimate insight into his personal struggles, achieving the status of the platform’s most-watched film upon release and earning a GRAMMY nomination.
