Prime Video’s ‘Elle’ Prequel Renewed for Season 2 Ahead of Premiere

Prime Video has confirmed that the Legally Blonde prequel series, Elle, will premiere on July 1, with production for a second season already scheduled to begin this spring. Starring Lexi Minetree as a young Elle Woods, the early renewal underscores Amazon MGM Studios’ strong confidence in the show’s creative team and storytelling.
The series explores Elle’s high school years, revealing the experiences that shaped the future Harvard Law star. Reese Witherspoon, the original Elle Woods, serves as an executive producer and praised Minetree’s performance, calling it “one of the most gratifying experiences” of her career. She emphasized that the show celebrates kindness, authenticity, and self-belief, core values central to Elle’s character.
The ensemble cast includes June Diane Raphael as Elle’s mother Eva, Tom Everett Scott as her father Wyatt, and supporting roles from Gabrielle Policano, Jacob Moskovitz, Chandler Kinney, and Zac Looker. Recurring appearances feature Jessica Belkin, Logan Shroyer, Amy Pietz, Matt Ober, Chloe Wepper, David Burtka, Brad Harder, Kayla Maisonet, Lisa Yamada, and James Van Der Beek.
Created by Laura Kittrell and co-showrun by Caroline Dries, the series also counts Witherspoon, Lauren Neustadter, Marc Platt, and Amanda Brown among its executive producers. Jason Moore directed the first two episodes and serves as an executive producer.
The show builds on the iconic Legally Blonde franchise, which began with the 2001 box office hit Legally Blonde and its 2003 sequel, followed by a direct-to-video third film in 2009 and a Broadway musical in 2007 that earned multiple Tony and Drama Desk nominations.
