LeBron James vs Stephen A. Smith predicted by UFC 314 star amid bitter feud

ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith has occasionally chimed in with an opinion on mixed martial arts despite basketball being his main focus.

Whether Smith’s praising Jon Jones despite the criticism around him or dishing out a hot take that Logan Paul would beat Conor McGregor, he’s always creating headlines.

Michael Chandler recently gave his thoughts on McGregor’s career update having been booked to fight him at UFC 303 until ‘The Notorious’ withdrew due to an injury.

At the same time, ‘Iron’ Mike weighed in with his view on the feud that Smith has been involved in throughout this month.

Following a confrontation between them on the court, the biggest NBA talking point in March has been the rivalry between LeBron James and Stephen A. Smith.

The feud kicked off when James approached Smith and was critical of the way that he talks about James’s son Bronny who is also signed to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Since then, both Smith and James have gone back-and-forth via a serious of appearances on other shows and social media posts.

At one point, the 57-year-old Smith claimed that he would have “swung” at James during their confrontation if the NBA superstar had touched him after initially stating that he understood why he was upset.

James’ comedic response saw him post a well known video on Instagram of Smith hitting pads in boxing gloves with no further statements required.

In a recent interview with The Schmo, Michael Chandler gave his take on what would happen if there had been some form of physical altercation between James and the ESPN broadcaster.

Unsurprisingly, he predicted that it would be one-way traffic for the 6’9” all-time great.

“Obviously we’ve seen Stephen A. Smith’s hands, I haven’t seen LeBron’s hands but just LeBron being an athlete, currently competing still even though it’s in the sport of basketball, there’s no way Stephen A. Smith touches LeBron James but we’ll see. Stephen A. Smith needs to come down here and train with us to work on those hands.”

Whilst Stephen A. Smith is certainly a controversial character, he clearly knows what to say in order to create a reaction from the audience.

This is something that Michael Chandler has become known for in the UFC even if some fans don’t particularly like some of the things that he says on the mic.

Chandler has been able to capitalize on his moments in the spotlight and he intends on doing just that at UFC 314 against Paddy Pimblett after evaluating his own promo ability in the same interview.

“I’m pretty up there I think. I think it’s if you want to be interesting, you have to be interested and know what you’re going to say, at least a skeleton or bullet points of what you want to say in the moment. I’ve already visualized knocking out Paddy Pimblett, a couple of the call-outs, a couple things I’m gonna say.”
