LeBron James might have given the best basketball interview of the year during his appearance on the Pat McAfee show. McAfee interviewed James for over an hour on his show as they discussed various topics. 

One of those was James' relationship with media members, as LeBron gave more insight into his relationship with some top ESPN journalists. Brian Windhorst started his career by being a high school reporter at St. Vincent-St. Mary's, covering LeBron's rise into the most hyped NBA prospect ever. This proximity to young LeBron jumpstarted his career, but LeBron made it clear that he never viewed Windhorst as a friend.

“I see a lot of s**t too. Like I see Brian Windhorst on one of these shows not too long ago.” 

 “You guys played together in high school, right?

 “Yeah, this guy who says he’s like my f**king best friend. These guys are just weird.”

Even though I understand what LeBron is trying to say, it must be said that Windhorst has never claimed he and LeBron were friends. He's categorically said before that LeBron likely would never give him an hour-long interview like he did McAfee, so it's clear these two don't have a friendly relationship and haven't had one for years.

LeBron might not view Windhorst as a friend, but it's clear there was a point in time when James' camp knew of Windhorst, as Windy spent a majority of his early career as one of the biggest proponents of LeBron as the best player in the NBA. Now, Windhorst is arguably one of the most renowned NBA journalists in the world.

Windhorst never openly called himself an old friend of LeBron, so it might be unfair for James to characterize him as someone who calls himself LeBron's best friend. All Windhorst has done in the past is acknowledge he knew LeBron in school, which has to be true, given that James had given interviews to Windhorst way back when.

Going on an ESPN show and not talking about Stephen A. Smith would've been impossible for LeBron after his very public falling out with Smith recently. As a result, James ripped on Smith for acting like 'Taylor Swift' after a recent on-court interaction.

“[Stephen A. Smith] is on a Taylor Swift tour run right now," said James. "It started off with 'I didn't want to address it, but since the video came out, I feel the need to address it.' Motherf**ker, are you kidding me, if there's one person that couldn't wait until the video dropped, it was your *ss. Like, seriously?"

Their recent spat over Bronny James has been regularly going viral over the last few weeks, with Smith milking the incident by making multiple videos and podcast episodes where he's 'addressing' LeBron and his actions.

It seems James is getting ready to drop the niceties he's had to show to the media over his 22-year career now that he's reaching the end of it. Let's see if more media members come on LeBron's radar for more such explosive interviews.
