Law and Order star Mariska Hargitay reveals all about the night she was arrested - NewsBreak
Mariska Hargitay has shared the hilarious story of how she ended up spending a night in jail.
The actress, well-known for playing Olivia Benson in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, revealed all during a candid interview on Alex Cooper's Call Her Daddy podcast. It all started when Mariska was filming the music video for Ronnie Milsap's 1984 hit She Loves My Car.
"I'm gonna tell you a funny story about this. This is the night I got arrested. I was arrested and thrown in the slammer," Mariska revealed to a shocked Alex. She explained how they had been filming the video late into the evening.

"That night, my parents were leaving for Africa," Mariska said. "So as the sun set at, I don't know, eight o'clock, I jumped in my car, full face of makeup, hair out to here, no shoes, in fishnets."
The 61-year-old admitted she has always had a "lead foot" before revealing, "Stop signs, well you know, I always saw them as optional. Kind of changed my ways since then."
Mariska explained she was "trying to race home to see my parents" when a police car suddenly followed her with their sirens flashing. She said they pulled her over before informing her, "Ma'am, you just ran a stop sign."
She added, "They pull up my driver's license and he says, 'Ma'am, please get out of the car.' I go, 'What? For a stop sign? What?'"
Mariska was reluctant to continue, joking "people won't look at me the same way" before she explained, "I had $3,000 outstanding in parking tickets at UCLA and I didn't always use my parking pass and I would get tickets every day and he puts me in his car, locks me in the back and throws me in the clink."
The TV icon continued, "That night I had $160 in 20s and I think bail was like $180. I was one $20 short of making bail. And I'm standing there and everyone's like, 'What are you in for?' and I asked everybody what they were in for. I made friends with everyone and then they all gave me phone numbers for when I got out and they said, 'Will you call this person, will you call this person?' So I had four phone numbers when I left and I was calling going, 'Hey just wanna let you know, your friend is in the Santa Monica jailhouse.'"
A clip from the interview was shared on the Call Her Daddy Instagram page, with fans left in hysterics over the story. "She is so fun! I could listen to her stories for hours," one person admitted.
Another commented, "I literally didn’t think I could love her more than I already do and after this interview I am just so obsessed in a totally new way," while someone else echoed, "I didn’t think I could love her more."
A fourth fan added, "She’s so awesome. “Stop signs are optional”." Another joked, "THIS IS WHY SHE PLAYS OLIVIA SO WELL! The compassion from her time in the slammer."
