Laura Elizabeth Lacon | Iredell Free News
, 84, of Mooresville, N.C., and formerly of Franklin Square, N.Y., peacefully passed away on July 6, 2025. Laura was born on March 29, 1941, in Franklin Square, N.Y., the daughter of loving parents Sebastiano C. and Tillie A. Testa.
She was preceded in death by Thomas G. Lacon, husband; Laura Ann Lacon, daughter; Charles Testa, brother; John Testa, brother, Anthony Testa, brother, Edward Testa, brother; and Carol Gill, sister.
Laura is survived by her loving son, Thomas S. Lacon.
During her life, Laura was a full charge bookkeeper for various companies in New York; however, she was a wife and mother first. There was nothing more important to Laura than family. She was one of six children, and her parents were from families of eight and nine children. She cherished her entire family, from her husband and son to dozens of cousins, her siblings, her in-laws, and her nieces and nephews.
Laura was always active in her church. She taught Roman Catholic Catechism for 30 years at St Catherine of Siena, Franklin Square, N.Y. When she and her husband retired to Mooresville, she proceeded to volunteer at St. Therese. She volunteered to work in the office and with S.W.A.T. In later years, Laura never thought of herself as being old and strived to do all of the things that she loved when she was younger.
She was fiercely proud of her Italian/Sicilian and Lithuanian heritage. Laura loved to travel with her husband Thomas, and they visited Italy twice and Scotland once. Her Italian heritage added to her love of cooking and entertaining; she loved cooking for her family and friends. She never wanted anyone to be in want; she always made enough food for double the number of guests.
Laura will be missed greatly by all of us, here on this earthly plane, while she sits at the table with our Lord and all those who have gone before us.
Laura will be at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, Mooresville, N.C., on Friday, July 11, 2025, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. for all those who wish to say their final goodbyes.
