WKS Slask Wroclaw (OBL) hired experienced 58-year-old Latvian coach Ainars Bagatskis for the 2025-26 season. He has coached for the last three years at CSO Voluntari in the Romanian league.
He coached the Latvian Senior National Team from 2010 to 2017 and the Under 20 National Team last year.
Bagatskis coached Latvia at the FIBA EuroBasket three years ago.
He has coached in France, Georgia, Germany (Bamberg), Israel (Maccabi Tel Aviv), Latvia, Lithuania, Russia, Turkey (Darussafaka Lassa), and Ukraine (Kyiv Basket). Bagatskis won the European North Basketball League championship title in 2025 and the cup in 2025. He was voted the Eurobasket.com All-European North Basketball League Coach of the Year in 2025.
