In a sweeping enforcement operation, the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has sealed multiple establishments across the state for violating environmental regulations.

The crackdown, which targeted noise pollution and the illegal siting of gas refilling plants, affected businesses in Surulere, Lagos Mainland, Agege, Kosofe, and other areas.

Among the establishments shut down were hotels, religious centres, gas plants and factories found to be flouting state environmental laws.

Those affected include Home Guest House, Feel at Home, Pholar Suites, Oak Spring Hotel and 18plus Hotel.

Assemblies of God Church, Redeemed Christian Church of God and Anwarul Islam Movement were also affected.

Chibuzor Gas and Dolax Gas was also sealed for operating in residential areas with Eco Fresh, a pure water factory.

LASEPA’s General Manager, Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, stated that the enforcement exercise aimed to protect public health and safety.

“Environmental infractions, including noise pollution and the illegal placement of gas refilling plants, endanger lives and disrupt public peace. Our enforcement efforts are aimed at restoring order and ensuring compliance with the state’s environmental regulations,” he said.

The agency extended the operations to Festac Town, Abule Ado, Satellite Town, Ori Ade Amuwo, Agboju, Amuwo, Maza Maza, and Navy Town, where it sealed additional businesses, including lounges, bars, hotels, and warehouses.

Affected establishments included Woody’s Lounge, Lifestyle Hotel, The Redeemed Christian Church of God, Obiagu Bar Lounge & Event Center, Flexus Hotel & Suites, Fairview Hotel, Hot Sport Bar, and Bamade Park.

Warehouses such as Mikky Cosmetics, Global Habib (Ponmo/Cowskin Warehouse), and Royal Rose Company (Tyre Warehouse) were also shut down.

Ajayi reaffirmed LASEPA’s commitment to ensuring compliance with environmental laws, warning that enforcement actions would continue.

“Noise pollution and other environmental violations disrupt the peace and well-being of our communities. Today’s enforcement exercise underscores our zero-tolerance policy towards defaulters and our dedication to upholding environmental laws,” he said.
