Lana Del Rey's Surprise Performance: Pop Icon Joins Local Band on Stage, Leaves Fans Stunned!

An unforgettable moment unfolded on the west coast recently, as local band Fastest Kids in School experienced a surprise duet with superstar Lana Del Rey. During an outdoor gig in Santa Barbara, California, the musicians were left stunned when Del Rey, after hearing them perform “West Coast” from her critically acclaimed album Ultraviolence, approached the stage and asked to sing along.
Video footage shared by the rock group on Instagram shows the alt-pop icon, casually dressed in a light jacket and jeans, sharing a microphone with guitarist Magic Jordan as she lent her voice to the track's distinctive chorus. The band expressed their immense gratitude and honor, with Fastest Kids in School captioning their post: “Super honored @honeymoon joined us on stage at Institution today! Truly a show we’ll never forget!”
Drummer Dan Grimes also recounted the extraordinary circumstances leading to Del Rey’s impromptu appearance. “A moment I will never forget,” he wrote on Instagram, adding, “I still can’t believe that just happened. Thank you Lana!!!” Grimes further elaborated in the comments that Del Rey was "just happening to be walking by while we were playing her song and motioned to see if we wouldn’t mind if she came on stage.” He continued, “Of course we obliged and that is when my head exploded. She was just ‘out getting some ice cream’ she said.”
The spontaneous performance rekindles memories of Ultraviolence, which was released over a decade ago in 2014. The album marked a significant milestone for Del Rey, debuting as her first-ever No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart. The track “West Coast” itself achieved notable success, peaking at No. 17 on the Billboard Hot 100.
In other news concerning the multifaceted artist, Del Rey is currently engaged in the creation of her much-anticipated country album. The project, which has seen several title changes, was revealed in August to now be titled Stove, after previously being referred to as Lasso and The Right Person Will Stay.
Adding to a busy period, Del Rey also recently celebrated a personal milestone, marking her first wedding anniversary with husband Jeremy Dufrene. She commemorated the occasion by sharing photographs on Instagram from their Louisiana ceremony, which took place on September 26, 2024.
