Lagos trader, Ukeme Etim, remanded for defiling 8-year-old niece
An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Friday remanded a 45 – year-old man, Ukeme Etim, to Kirikiri Correctional Centre for allegedly defiling his wife’s 8-year old niece.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs O. O Kushanu refused to take the defendant’s plea.
She ordered that the defendant should be remanded in Kirikiri Correctional Centre until Sept. 4 for Director of Public Prosecution’s (DPP) advice.
Ukeme Etim a trader, who resides at 37, Okpya St., Aboru, Lagos, is being tried for sexual assault and defilement.
The prosecutor, ASP Adegoke Ademigbuji told the court that the offences were committed on May 31 at the defendant’s residence.
Ademigbuji said Etim sexually molested his 8-year old wife’s niece when his wife’s went to the market.
The prosecutor said that the victim told her aunty, who is the defendant’s wife.
The offences, according to the prosecutor, contravene Sections 137 and 264 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
