Lagos LG Polls: AAC Candidates Task LAISEC On Free, Fair Elections
The candidates of the African Action Congress (AAC) in the coming July local council elections in Lagos State have called on the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) to ensure that the forthcoming elections are conducted in a transparent, free, and fair manner.
A statement signed by 10 of the candidates, made available to Sunday Independent on Saturday morning, urged LASIEC to uphold its constitutional duty by providing a level playing field for all political actors.
It also charged the state electoral umpire to ensure timely deployment of election materials, and prevent any form of voter intimidation or electoral malpractice.
It stated: “As a political party committed to grassroots development and transformative governance, the AAC is presenting a diverse slate of candidates with a revolutionary mindset and proven commitment to community transformation.
“These individuals are not only qualified and credible, but also deeply rooted in their respective communities.”
It maintained that the candidates represent the hope and aspiration of their communities, and the AAC stands firmly behind them in demanding an electoral process free from intimidation, manipulation, and malpractice.
The statement was signed by Ayomide Godonu Hannah, Councillorship candidate, Ward F3, Lagos Island East; Olaide Olurinde Basirat, councillorship candidate, Ikotun, Ijegun ward and Omilana Olaoluwa Oladimeji, councillor, Egan-Ward F, Igando-Ikotun, and others
