A member of the Federal House of Representatives representing Edu, Moro, and Patigi federal constituency of Kwara State, Hon. Ahmed Adamu Saba, has called on President Bola Tinubu, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and security agencies to urgently intervene and rescue his constituency from frequent attacks by bandits and kidnappers.
He expressed deep sadness over recent incidents, including the killing of a cattle rearer in Tashagi and the abduction of five of his children, as well as the kidnapping of a businessman and his manager in Gbugbu community.
He urged residents to remain calm, assuring them that peace would soon be restored in the affected communities.
Hon. Saba, who recalled the recent attacks with sadness, said the victims have been held captive for over two weeks now with demand for more ransom by their abductors.
In a statement issued through his Special Assistant on Digital Media, Bello Hamidu, on Friday, the lawmaker expressed grave concern over the escalating insecurity, which has left the people living in fear and mourning.
He revealed that the kidnappers have increased ransom demands and threatened to harm the victims.
“My people can no longer sleep with their two eyes closed,” Saba said. “Going to farm for their livelihood has become a daunting task due to the fear of attack. They cannot carry out their legitimate businesses freely. This is unacceptable.”
He described the attacks as inhuman and criminal, urging immediate action to restore normalcy.
“I appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, our hardworking Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, and the efficient Inspector General of Police, Mr. Kayode Egbetokun, to urgently come to our rescue. The situation in my constituency is dire,” he pleaded.
The lawmaker emphasised that such violence is intolerable in any community and cannot be allowed to continue.
Hon. Saba sympathised with the residents during this difficult time and promised to work closely with both state and federal governments to secure lives and properties across his constituency.
