King Combs Drops Emotional Kim Porter Tribute Video, Produced by Ye

King Combs, son of Diddy, has released a new music video for his song “Kim,” a heartfelt tribute to his late mother, Kim Porter. The track was produced by Ye, and the visual, directed by Kaito, premiered on Sunday, November 16. The two-minute video features a series of haunting and emotional clips, including King Combs crying, holding a rifle, and running in slow motion, interspersed with recreative visual flashes from his childhood. Throughout the video, Combs delivers lyrics in a distorted baritone, expressing his profound grief and love for his mother, stating, “Kim, I love you, mama. Things ain’t been the same here without you, mama.”
In a poignant Instagram post accompanying the video’s release, King Combs articulated his intention to honor his mother’s memory. He wrote, “I miss you so much, Mommy. Not a day goes by that I don’t feel your love watching over us. Today will forever mean something deeper, and I wanted to honor you with this video. I know you’re in Heaven, proud of everything we’re becoming. I love you forever.” This personal dedication underscores the deep emotional connection of the song and video to his mother’s passing.
The new visual follows the release of King Combs and Ye’s “Never Stop EP,” which dropped in June. Ye served as the executive producer for the EP, and his eldest daughter with ex-wife Kim Kardashian, North West, made a notable appearance on the song “Lonely Roads.” Another track from the EP, “Diddy Free,” also garnered attention for its chorus, which directly referenced his father’s legal challenges, stating, “N—as ain’t goin to sleep ’till we see Diddy free.”
King Combs discussed the collaboration with Ye in an interview with Billboard, revealing that Ye extended support during “probably the worst times in my life” – specifically during his father Diddy’s criminal trial, which ultimately concluded with Diddy being sentenced to over four years in prison for prostitution-related crimes. Combs explained that Ye initially reached out to discuss a potential Sean John collaboration. This initial conversation evolved into the musical partnership, with Ye proposing a five-song EP. Combs readily agreed, describing it as a “no brainer,” and the project quickly materialized.
