Ketchup Catastrophe! Heinz’s New Smoothie Sparks Fury Over 'Nasty' Flavor

Heinz has recently ventured into new product territory with mixed results, highlighted by the launch of a ketchup smoothie in collaboration with US firm Smoothie King. This unusual concoction, which blends Heinz's iconic tomato ketchup with acai sorbet, apple juice, strawberries, and raspberries, is available in Smoothie King stores across the US. However, its reception has been overwhelmingly negative, with many sceptical food fans on social media labelling it as “disgusting” and “nasty,” receiving an almost “criminal reception.”
In contrast to the controversial smoothie, Heinz also recently unveiled a new ketchup product that has garnered significant positive attention: Heinz Tomato Ketchup Zero. Launched in June, this “game-changing” condiment boasts 35 percent more tomatoes, a “drastically” different color, and offers several health benefits due to its formulation with no added sugar or salt. This stands in stark contrast to its original counterpart, appealing to a growing segment of health-conscious consumers.

The Heinz Tomato Ketchup Zerohas quickly created an online frenzy among sauce enthusiasts, with many claiming it possesses a superior taste compared to other “Zero” products and even surpasses the original Heinz ketchup. According to the beloved sauce brand, a remarkable nine out of ten customers affirmed that it delivers the great quality expected from Heinz. This positive feedback aligns with current consumer trends, as Heinz noted that 50,000 Brits, for instance, prioritize healthier food choices with reduced sugar and salt content, indicating a clear demand for such products in the market.
